TV poll

    Jason

Greetings All,

Thanks to everyone who participated.

15 people responded to the poll with a total of 55 different programs.

>Between the ages of 8 and 18, what were your top 5 favorite TV shows?

The top programs were as follows:

1. Looney Tunes--Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Roadrunner (I tend to discount this one to some degree as I mentioned it in one of the posts about the poll. But still here it is)

2. A tie between the original Star Trek series and The Twilight Zone.

3. I Dream of Jeannie

Here's a breakdown of the kinds of shows mentioned:

14 were sitcoms.
9 programs were cartoons. (3 were Japanimae)
7 were science-fiction.
6 centered on family values.
4 regularly featured live music.
4 were westerns
3 were police shows
3 were children's educational shows.
2 were soap operas
2 were documentaries
1 game show was mentioned
1 person mentioned radio programs
___
55

There were no sports programs mentioned, nor cooking shows. No news serials (48 Hours and the like). No Mysteries were mentioned ( Agatha Christi, Murder She Wrote and similar).

No one said "Entertainment Tonight".

Here's one interesting fact:

In 17 (thats more than 25%) of the shows mentioned, one or more characters in the program regularly demonstrated competant use of one or more of the siddhis. Whether is was Mr. Spock doing the Vulcan mind-meld or Barbara Eden bobbing her head to grant a wish or Samantha Stevens wiggling her nose to cast a spell, kundalites seem somewhat infatuated with supernatural ability.

Honorable mentions:
Dark Shadows--1960's soap opera featuring vampires, witches, ghosts and werewolves.

Mr. Ed--1950's western/comedy about a wise, talking horse and the only person who could hear him.

>Do you think any of these shows had an effect on your awakening process?

4 said yes
10 said no
1 was undecided

That seems to indicate that the choice of programming is symptomatic rather than causal.............

Enjoy Your Viewing!
