Subject: [K-list] Falun Dafa Qi Gong vs Kundalini

Hi,

Quick question: - I went to a Falun Dafa Qi Gong meeting tonight.
Falun Dafa differs from other Qi Gong practices in that it is solely
meant for attaining enlightenment, and health and vitality are a
consequence of the practice, but not the goal in itself.

I was speaking to the women who runs the group, who apparently spent 14
years teaching various forms of Yoga, and she says that there is no
correlation between the energy systems of yoga (indian understanding of
energy: kundalini and chakras etc.) and Falun Dafa's energy system. The

process of kundalini ascending through the body then into the crown does

not exist or make sense in this form of Qi Gong.

[Susan ] There are correlations but there are dissimilarities. Yogic
systems only emphasize bringing energy up to the crown. Since some yogic
systems are now recognizing the presence of the feminine they do
introduce bringing the energy down the front. And if this is a former
yoga practitioner it is not unusual for them to know not much about k
process and phenomenon. As yes, on the surface they do look different if
you don't know what you are looking at.

Both yogic and chinese systems have things they concentrate on and
neglect. :)
Kundalini is a cross cultural, universal phenomenon. Don't let anyone
tell you different. Kundalini in Chi systems is known as the Supreme or
greatest Kan and Li. We don't hear about that term much. I just recently
had a chi kung practitioner in my class. When we gave him Shaktipat he
was blown away by the level of differences between chi (qi) and
kundalini. Chi is energy, sure, but kundalini is Intelligent energy. It
is the Supreme Self (Intelligence) manifesting in the body. This
practitioner went home to his Grandmaster who saw the energy change in
his body and decided, as of this week...three weeks after we gave him
shaktipat...to designate our student as the heir of his Chi Kung
lineage. This Grandmaster is a 72 year old man from China, practicing
since he was a child with great masters, recognized by the authorities
in Chi Kung as the real deal.

Last week I fried and terrified a Reiki Master by giving her Shaktipat.
She now knows the difference between K and reiki energy. (I had to
spend a few minutes smoothing it out for her and helping her regain her
equilibrium.)There is an infinite difference between reiki and k and chi
and k. It's hard to describe to someone who has not experienced the
difference but the difference is real and can be felt.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Apparently 'master' (i.e. the founder of Falun Dafa who is still alive)
looks after all Falun Dafa practitioners and that as a result of
practicing this form of Qi Gong, I may notice one of two things:  either
my energy system my blow open, or, alternatively I may notice all the
wild activity I've been experiencing lately suddenly die down as the
master takes control of my body and 'locks' certain aspects of the
energy process until I've attainted the right level of spiritual
developed through Qi Gong cultivation.
OK, I can accept all the energy subsiding, but what I can't understand
is: -
A living person could really have control over this ??? I admit I know
nothing about life and it may be that I just can't see things the way
spiritually evolved beings can But how can this really be possible?  Can
'master' control the energy systems of all 20 million (?) world wide
falun dafa practitioners, without ever physically coming into contact
with them!?
[Susan ] Heh, miracles are only things that science doesn't know how to
understand or explain.
It is possible this master can influence because after all there is no
time and space in Consciousness. Distance and numbers is irrevelant. But
this also depends on how much control/influence are you willing to hand
over to someone outside of yourself. People have felt my presence and
influence around the world during meditations that I lead. Angelique
will tell you the same thing about herself. No big deal. And so what?
Technique and power is no guarantee of a good heart or right intentions.
Look at it this way, just because someone can lift bigger weights than
you can, does that make them fit to lead? This is all just flash and
trash talk. Where is the substance? What is the "right" level of
spiritual development and who determines what those standards are?
Chi kung is for learning how to heal self, heal others, and to attain
enlightenment. Did they talk about that?
~~~~~~~~~~~

Also ... that this phenomena or bodily energy configuration is unique to

this form of Qi Gong, and that the process of kundalini rising is
something totally different. I thought that kundalini was a biological
phenomena and that these systems (Qi Gong, Kundalini, bioenergetics
etc.) try to understand the phenomena and have techniques for initiating

and working with it, but ultimately, it's all the same thing. Could I
be wrong here?

[Susan ] Nope, you are not wrong. Chi and K are chi and k. They manifest
differently at times, sure. You can often look at a practitioner's
energy configuration and tell what lineage they come and what kind of
energy practice they have. I can do it sometimes but I am not all that
good at it. Sometimes I can actually see the lineage in peoples' energy
field. Kinda like carrying pics of your family around in your wallet. It
is not a big deal. Just have to be trained to see them. Sounds like the
Falun people are emphasizing siddis (magicks) as evidence of mastery.
Siddis do show energy development and adeptness but they are not
evidence of levels of awareness and/or enlightenment. They are just
glitzy toys with which to wow the neighbors unless they are understood
in their appropriate context. Once you got them and understand them,
they lose all their attraction and specialness. Just another place along
the Way.

Energy is energy. It is what it is. What makes it experienced
differently is the myths, cultures and beliefs that surround it. We
shape it by our beliefs around it. We mold our reality out of it.

This uniqueness they sell is an ancient selling point. Once you have
been around the energy block a few times like I have you will see more
similarities in spiritual/energy systems than differences. All roads
lead to the Tao. :)

Falun, I think, has some religious overtones. Religions feed us food
until we learn how to cultivate our own spiritual gardens and feed
ourselves. They ain't a bad thing. My personal opinion is they are like
training wheels on your bike until you are ready to become your own
master. :) Just be aware. Caveat Emptor.

Let me be blunt here and step out on a limb and become a potential
target. Chi Kung is for beginners. Kundalini is the fierce path. Chi
kung is extremely helpful but we are comparing gasoline to nuclear
fission in its relation to kundalini.

Hope that helps clarify some things.
