    I see the same pattern. At some phases of the process, people are  
spontaneously thrown into the witness state, emotionlessness and apathy  
that can last for months and is sometimes mistaken for depression. It does  
seem to be a sort of natural anaesthesia that facilitates some deep  
releasing, letting go of attachments painlessly. Witness is a state of  
surrender. Apathy is not resistance! 
   Out the other side is what I call the "laughing fat Buddha" state...  
symbol is those icons of the fat laughing buddha with his hands in the air  
going "what the fuck?" Shrug and laughter of surrender... seeing the cosmic  
joke: It's all Goddess and if Goddess wants to pretend to be not Goddess  
then She can and why worry?
