Hi Gustaf-

I think the only difference may be whether awakening is considered something
happening only to you, and maybe a few other isolated individuals (K), or
something happening to a large(r) number of people globally as part of some
kind of large-scale consciousness shift.

The Eastern paradigms that are the first source for our Western awareness of
K processes tend to view history cyclically, so that it is basically up to
the individual to awaken on their own. Even the cycles of Yugas will repeat
endlessly. In the West we view history more linearly, with concepts like
"evolution" which apply to the whole, sooner or later.

The Buddhist "wheel of time", where one circulates endlessly around the
karmic levels from hell beings, pretas, humans, devas, etc, until one "steps
off the merry-go-round" through one's own efforts is typical.

In the most common Western "new age" paradigms, we have global development
through rising "densities", mass ascensions, evolving world ages (as in
Theosophy and Anthroposophy). We also have concepts like the "hundreth
monkey effect" (a made up story, but perhaps a real effect) and morphogenic
fields, which allow for an interaction between personal and mass
consciousness. So if enough people begin to awaken K through their own
efforts, it may eventually impact the rest of human consciousness.

What is perhaps different in the ascension/transition paradigms is the idea
of non-human consciousness actively participating in (manipulating) the
vibratory atmosphere of the Earth to aid in (or hinder! don't forget the
naughty reptillians!) the awakening process of humans.
