Being psychic is not dependent upon being spiritually evolved. Those that
actively seek magical power without spiritual development get burned and
their progress upon the path of return may be slowed... for lifetimes. Fire
is a useful tool but in the hands of children it destroys. If you wish to
be spiritually evolved don't worry about being psychic. Those that start on
the path of return and that are already psychic have a more difficult time.
Higher awareness and supersensory development go hand in hand. Animals are
typically psychic but they don't necessarily have higher awareness. The
most serious effect from awakening is having your world turn upside down
(180*)... but this leads to greater vision and freedom. Death to your old
self and birth to your new self is a painful process, birth being the more
painful process. We are in this world because we can learn very quickly
here and now... by pain and joy.
A true teacher will show you the path to God and keep you from being
sidetracked by phenomena.
Seek out a real Teacher/Master.
You may start by reading "Autobiography of a Yogi" by Paramahansa Yogananda.
