Thank you for opening this conversation, Sue. I think this whole issue of
need, relationships, kundalini, etc. is an ongoing puzzle and, least for me, I
believe the puzzle will take on new dimensions for as long as I live in this
body. I agree with David that periods of stuckness seem to precede radical
expansions in how I view myself. And I would say most of these periods are
aggravated by my not wanting to feel something -- usually profound disappointment.
The feeling I am avoiding, indeed am only partially aware of, usually connects
at some level to an archaic self-concept that still rules me subconsciously.
This self-concept becomes clear when I finally allow myself to feel the
disappointment and the whole package gets released. Then the transpersonal
expansion can occur. I suspect that we human beings may be afraid of feeling
disappointment more than any other feeling because it leaves us in such a state of
vulnerability. But then, this is when grace seems to happen. These swings
between the intensely personal and the gloriously nondual are gruelling sometimes
and I keep hoping the most recent was the last one! But I now suspect that
all the human frailties -- especially need -- are central to the process and
that the way beyond is through, not around.
