Before I knew anything about "K" I began to do breathing exercises with the
Dr. Andrew Weil CD's and I was doing meditations everyday that had been
produced by a Yogini i.e.. Yoga Nidra and the meditations on the different
chakras. I was also receiving a lot of long distant Reiki from a loving
soul which I am not able to rule out as being a part of my awakening. And I
was working to change my belief patterns and the way I react to life's
challenges. Letting go of things that did not fit me anymore and making
way for new friends and thoughts and circumstances. Learning to allow might
be a good way to explain what was going on. Learning to accept
responsibility for my life and my happiness and not lay blame on any one
other than me.

One day on a long car trip to another town I started doing Dr. Weils
breathing exercises. Breathing out to the count of 6, holding my breath and
then breathing out to the count of 8 (something like that) and then
repeating the sequence over and over again. I believe I forgot about the
time and had been doing the breathing for about 30 min. or more. When we
arrived at the Hotel room and I proceeded to lay down to stretch out on the
bed I could feel each chakra being stimulated one at a time from my feet, my
bottom chakra to the top of my head. Those were my first very gentle
awakening vibrations and they were wonderful. The other part of the
awakening was much more powerful, but all welcome and joyful and ecstatic!

And if I were to include the out of body experience that I had when I was in
my 30's. I'd say my 'K' was awakened by one night of insomnia, when staring
at the ceiling above my bed. The experience caught me so off guard that I
suppressed any other "K" activity and instead came down with Chronic Mono
and Fibromyalgia of which I "owned" for approximately 15 years after that.

I did not begin any of this with the intention of awakening "K", it just
happened naturally. So I guess I'm comfortable with that!

I'm not comfortable with a supposed guru manipulating my energy. I've been
in situations where that was a factor, but I felt it was their energy, not
mine doing the stirring and when the guru was not there anymore, the energy
died down.

I think "K" is a very natural thing that needs to unfold to the liking of
each individual and as they can deal with what the energy brings up for them
to look at, although, as is seen by the sharing of others on this website,
people aren't always lucky enough to pick and choose their awakening
circumstances.
I've had others who have worked with spirituality/religion since they were a
small child and they think it is awful that others are awakening without
what they would call the sacrifice of study and discipline. It leaves me
speechless...

What techniques do you use to develop your kundalini? There's many different
methods so which method are you most comfortable with?
