Subject: [K-list] ~ I WENT TO IKEA TODAY ~

I went to this huge place called 'IKEA' today.
I had never heard of it before.

I have been remodeling my bathroom for a number of months now
and I was looking for a lovely piece of furniture
with some soul
to drop a sink into.

This place was surreal.

I couldn't believe it.

It was like the size of 2 or 3 Home Depots
(which are like the size of like 3 football fields)
with *2* levels.

One level for crap.
And another level for still more crap.

Everything in this weird place was made up of particle board.
(cardboard that's a little bit harder)

You name it.

Kitchen cupboards.
Cabinets.
Tables.
Dressers.
More tables,
entertainment centers
bookshelves
and still more tables
all made up of particle board.

I even think the employees
were made of particle board.

The funny thing about this
is that there were about 5 thousand people there
all roaming around the rooms
composed and decorated
with particle board furniture and whatnot
like zombies.

They seemed excited.

Enthralled even.

I didn't check
but I bet some even wet their pants.

Many were on cell phones
talking to loved ones
about what they were going to buy,
and what color
and how many shelves
and so on...

I left.

I was looking for something real.

Something with some soul.

Some character.

A few exits down the interstate
I found a huge furniture store
(not nearly as huge as IKEA though, I don't think the moon is as big as
IKEA)

It had *real* wood furniture!

No one was in there.

A nice lady from New York country
tried to help me find
my piece with soul.

She really, really tried.

We didn't find it.

But I told her I gave her an A+ for effort though.

She gave me her card
and she gave me a tip
about an antique place.

She told me
I would find what I was looking for there.

I didn't go yet
but I have a feeling she may be right.

Well,
getting to the point of my story,
I think that the world is like my experience today too.

Everyone wants crap
but no one really wants
what is real,

what has soul

and what endures...

peace
