I see blue lights mostly and occasionally red. The
blue comes at times like you say -- when I am relaxed,
connected, serene. Often when I am doing work that is
personally revealing and useful for myself, I see
blues as small sparks, marbles, or just shades.

Red is a bit hard for me to pin down. At times I have
interpreted it as reminding me to "stop" and focus on
how I am grounded.

The lights manifest themselves as a natural extension
of my thoughts and feelings. The more i get
comfortable with them, the better off I am. They go
away for periods, come back... depends on my state of
mind.
