Dear Prahal,

Firstly I must thank you for your email it has a lot of points that are
valid. You are correct in saying that these voices, smells and any other
external stimuli are distractions/obstacles that we can become attached to
by over rationalisation and over intellectualising (I am as bad at this as
most), and if we can leave them aside we can distract ourselves from the
pitfalls of samskara.

The ideal method for enlightenment would be to go isolate ourselves from
society, creating a severe form of sensory deprivation so we can first see
then identify and merge with our souls.

There are a lot of people out there including me that are living and
interacting in the world as well as continuing our spiritual practises, by
doing yoga, tai chi, meditation etc so that they can blend the ideal method
with their current lifestyle, and there are others that cannot even afford
the luxury of doing even this.

My point is this,

Why should we deny people that are less fortunate then us from our
understanding of certain situations like the voices for example? One severe
example of this would be schizophrenia, where doctors subscribe drugs to
people that they do not need, all they need is for someone to say that these
voices are real, to show how and why they can be caused, and something can
be done about them, so that they can move on with there lives.

For example if someone was to come to this list in a years time find this
article and just be told it is a figment of the imagination and should be
discarded, they will just close the page, but if they are told that it is a
external/internal stimuli, that there are spirits/people that are capable of
doing this, that others have experienced similar things and they are not as
mad as the ego says they are, then they can help themselves in understanding
at least one truth, that can help set them free form the thing that has been
limiting them, they can then take preventative measures that at least can
break them free of one samskara.

Yes you are correct that if we focus on these things we can get lost in them
and forget our goals, but we also have a responsibility for the society we
live in to help them deal with the situations that we have already dealt
with and we have a responsibility to ourselves to identify and deal with the
situations we do not understand or have not dealt with. It is only in this
way that we can change the world to be a better and safer place to live in,
for all rather then a select few.

:)

Subject: [K-list] about voices and smell

hi all,
There is an important thing I needed to express as an
opinion of mine. about the voices. Im sure most of you
know this but just felt like writing about this.
personally I am too ignorant to endorse or advert the
existence of spirits. I am of the opinion that the
only thing the spirits if at all they can do anything
is to communicate with you. The rest is how you your
mind behaves to that if it does.

Firstly It would only be logically incumbent that I
mention my understanding of these before I comment.

We as men and women, relate to this world through our
senses. any understanding we have of this universe or
anything else is with these. these can be sight,
sound, smell , tactile, etc..
What is the meaning of sensory perception?
it is an aspect in your mind that functions upon
stimulus by energy of a particular kind. Meaning light
sound or other energy that is received by the ear is
converted to electrical impulses by our neuro- system
and then perceived by our brain.

How do we understand anything that we perceive, we do
it referentially from what we have experienced already
(through senses.)
But parabrahmand, sunyata, the father, god, or how
ever and by who ever he she or it is called, is
beyond human perception. That is something human body
cannot understand because of the fact that it is
human, with inherent limitations. ( that is why it is
described as neti neti neti in the Vedas, which
means not this not this not this
When the soul or atma has evolved to the required
point, it is then ready to leave the and continue its
travel towards infinity. And finally merges into
infinity at mahapralaya. This travel without the human
body is called nirvana or liberation.
But untill then It will keep trying to evolve,
acquiring one physical body and throwing away another,
either progressing or deteriorating in spiritual
evolution.

Kundalini is that aspect of energy that brings with it
the beginning of the non sensory universe.
as the directing power outside ( inside) our dimension
that directs us to the goal.

What people do not realize today is that , we keep
collecting impressions or samskaras, as long as we
live, in human body ( through our passions). And it is
this that is called impurity by all religions. Our
emotions and our feelings are bent towards the
sustenance of the body and the identity that is formed
in the mind of it. We are born with samskaras .
It is thus necessary to cleanse ourselves ( if I may
call us that) of these samskaras.
All religions preach ways by suggesting certain dos
and donts.
Awakening the Kundalini is not very difficult. But It
is not to be awakened until the body is brought to a
certain pure state.
As awareness develops, and prana begins to flow
through subtle channels. we as an effect undergo
these experiences of sound, smell, visions, etc (what
we are used to..sensory). as and when that part of our
brain is activated by this energy. We relate to them
in the terms we understand. These are definitely signs
of spiritual evolution,( but not always).
The point here is when in the impure state we
experience these things, It makes an intense impact on
us in our sensory realm. And impure that we are we
feel more and more drawn towards these things as these
please our senses (or displease depending on our
subconscious state) and we have not yet become pure
enough to view these with detachment. And we will go
in a vicious circular maze, controlled by it. and
hence stagnate or deteriorate spiritually.
So it is best not to be thrilled or dejected by the
new sensory developments in our travel,
But to view it with a sense of complete detachment as
a traveler in a train watching the things go by.
In conventional Indian spiritual terms there are
grossly 3 different divisions of spiritual development
Pind , viraat and brahmand.
Pind is the total ignorant, material sphere, where
there is no cognizance of anything except the body and
its sustenance. ( most of the world is in)
Viraat is the transition process when the energy
connects the non-sensory dimension with our existing
sensory dimension and we perceive through the sensory
interpretations .
Brahmand is that when you become independent of the
sensory realm , drowned in just complete bilss.
Crystal clear mind, and total detachment from sense
related passions.
Beyond is para brahmand that which is unattainable in
the human body. which has neither joy nor sorrow,
neither light nor darkness.

we communicate to each other through senses by sight
and sound.
When the state of brahmand is reached a man can
communicate without his senses. That is make another
man feel in his body what this man needs to explain /
communicate.
long time ago , a lot of the lessons and explanatory
sessions took place in this method. Infact the whole
of the ancient Indian philosophy is divided into 2
categories,sruti ( shroothi ) and smriti (smrr-thi )
the former being vocal communication (sensory) and the
latter by transmission. Because a lot of these things
were impossible to describe with sensory constraints
to a man/ woman limited in this.

I apologise that I belabored, but I hope what I have
written will benefit at least a few. But if I have a
misconception about something, then I shall be obliged
to he / she who disabuses me.
And I shall consider myself to be benifitted in that
case.

Sincerely
prahal
