I agree with Ben that it can be a very wild ride for some, while others
barely notice (may not even know!) that it happens.. I have been on the
path of quite safe yoga techniques for quite a few years and my experiences
have been very gradual (for most part) and in generally tender and
absorbing. I was quite afraid in the beginning, because I didn't understand
all the things that were happening..

If you feel you are getting experiences, the best thing is to find guidance.
A lot of people on this list have a lot of experience and are very helpful.
I've found guidance almost everywhere I look, people here, swamis that I
know and many other places.. If you balance and open yourself up to some
degree before things happen, it's a much smoother ride. If you look at
amazon.com there's a really good book by Swami Satynanda called "Kundalini
Tantra" I would recommend that book to anyone, both those who have
experiences, those who are just curious and want to find out more. It's a
very easy to understand book which describes things in a very systematic
way, and with very little bias.

Hi friend,

yes awakening the kundalini prematurely is a dangerous and wild ride.
However for some little happens but for others it can be devastating
awakening the kundalini early. Thats why its good to practice safe yoga
techniques that purify your karma like pranayama techniques like the
ones
that Self Realzation fellowship uses (just giving an example). Gopi
Krishna
went through a horrendous wild ride because he used a meditation
technique
that was focused on awakening the kundalini. Your goal should not be to
awaken the kundalini, but to practice safer yoga techniques and if the
kundalini awakens by itself it is good. You should not have to worry if
it
awakens by itself, if it does then thats good. Ramakrishna says the
easiest
path for the kali-yuga is bhakti yoga (devotion to God) So i would just
have
to say continue on your search for enlightenment and if the kundalini
awakens by itself then good, but don't focus your efforts on awakening
it.

I awoke my kundalini from meditating years ago, and i think its because
of
delving into occult meditation in a past life. Some people have their
kundalinis awaken because of doing occult things and paying for them in
this
life. I went through a horrendous wild ride, my brain was totally
changed
and now i have a mental imbalence that i have to take medication for. As
long as i take this medication iam fine, but when i go off i get a
chemical
imbalence in my brain. That just shows how devastating kundalini can be.

Well i hope this helped, take care and good luck! :)

in divine love and friendship,
ben f
