I can easily identify
an ego desire and simply ignore it - very freeing. Could it be that this
desireless state is another attempt for the ego to gain control by
cancelling instead of the normal addition?
This reminds me of something I read in Osho's "The Book of Secrets", about a
man who was obsessed with wealth but then turned himself into a guy who was
obsessed with having nothing, and that everyone thought it was miraculous, that
he was enlightened (or something of the like), but Osho explained it as simply
being the mind moving to another sort of excessiveness, and that the key is
to be in the middle, not to choose one definite thing.
