I asked a Buddhist friend that question back in the 60's; he said "I don't
feel any need to make love, but often when I go to bed at night there's a
friendly woman with me, and we do what we like, and that's just fine." I
think the problem is not with wanting and enjoying, but with with craving
things that aren't available, or aren't good for us--and with fear of
losing things we do have. Our lives, our youth, our health for example.
~~~
  Or perhaps- as you stated with "craving things that aren't available", lack
of desire is a way to stay IN THE MOMENT. The human mind goes from place to
place, wanting this, wanting that, ignoring what it does have available, and
the ability to truly enjoy and love deteriorates. Because I have realized,
from experience, and from other's experience, that the goal in life is the
journey itself, because in the end we all die and we're not sure what happens after
that, but ignoring that passage before physical death makes living in this
body completely meaningless. Although (not sure who said this) "everything in
moderation, even moderation". Desire can make us push ourselves, which is
essential to living life to the fullest, but words are just words, and saying lack
of desire is a way of just stating what I said above.
But this is my interpretation of it ;)
