Huh? I mean, I'm one person-probably not the only one here--who doesn't
have a clue what that IS.

He was Stephen Mitchell's teacher, right?
I've "known" what is, over a very long time--Hard to say when it started
because verbal knowledge and what's-felt aren't always in step in us
humans. The Clue Experience hit while I was smoking pot and reading a
Scientific American article on consciousness, seeing how much off-the-point
it was--but the "point" it "was off" from must have been in my mind in the
first place; in fact I'd worked much of it out on a verbal level decades
before.

My awareness of kundalini has always been minimal. But some people would
say that the movement of kundalini in me would have underlaid whatever
understanding and ripening I experienced.

There are times when I know what I know better than I know it other times.
(Mild versions of) the kind of experiences ascribed to kundalini have been
part of those periods--not to say that I'd necessarily understood them at
the time. So I don't believe that Raging Kundalini Experiences are
necessary for enlightenment, but I do feel that some manifestation of
kundalini is desirable in its own right, and also serves to keep us on
track. Food is not "necessary for self-realization" but it helps get us there.
