Errr Rick... I was king of playing around... I'll try to say something
sensible...

Fear for me was something that came to light (as a general 'thing' of
enquiry) early last October. Myself and a few others discussed fear on the
list ... elargonauto has some intelligent responses.

Later I was reading somewhere else of what someone had said of fear and
duality and it seemed to strengthen my idea. I can't say its concrete as
fear is perhaps such a basic thing that it's hard to have clear
understanding of (as it's hard to be outside of it.) I certainly don't live
in this way and it's by no means an ongoing realisation (in that it changes
depending on my mood). What I wrote was sort of a silly synopsis of various
different experiences and trains of thought.

To me in a basic form. Fear = separation. Love = togetherness (or opposite
separation). But if we see things as a part of ourselves then the fear
changes somewhat. For Duality then the apparency of the other dissolves and
so with it the fear. In that state, it's difficult to conceive of fear as
thoughts (the few that are) and focus become 'spacious' and in a way more
'all-encompassing'. Fear doesn't really cross the mind (at least there seems
in my experience a latency before falling back into an unhandled response or
pattern of behaviour to something.)

What I felt was there wasn't really anything to fear *but* to fall back to
where fear is more prevalent (the slippery slide). As some say that to be
feared is fear itself.

Perhaps if that could be held firmly then non-duality may make a permanent
state. *perhaps* fear would not be what it *was* (is!).
