The reference to the Hansa bird is more of an allegory or metaphor
rather than a full story. It is well known in Yoga practice and
philosophy. Hindu scriptures describe the beautiful Hansa (swan) of
paradise, which feeds only upon pearls, whose beak separates milk from
water. The Hansa is an allegorical reference to the realized soul.

Brief quote from
http://www.yoganandarediscovered.com/jaitruth/Csign.html

"Literally, param, highest; hansa, swan. The hansa is represented in
scriptural lore as the vehicle of Brahma, Supreme Spirit; as the symbol
of discrimination, the white hansa swam is thought of as able to
separate the true soma nectar from the mixture of milk and water. Ham-sa
(pronounced hong-sau) are two sacred Sanskrit chant words possessing a
vibratory connection with the incoming and outgoing breath. Aham-Sa is
literally, "I am He."

Brief quote from http://www.orientalia.org/term23439.html

"Hamsa - (Sanskrit) "Swan;" more accurately, the high-flying wild goose
Anser indicus. The vahana, vehicle, of the God Brahma. It has various
meanings, including Supreme Soul and individual soul. It is a noble
symbol for an adept class of renunciates (paramahamsa) - winging high
above the mundane, driving straight toward the goal, or of the
discriminating yogi who - like the graceful swan said to be able to
extract milk from water - can see the Divine and leave the rest. The
hamsa mantra indicates the sound made by the exhalation (ha) and
inhalation (sa) of the breath."

Brief quote from http://www.theosociety.org/pasadena/etgloss/ha-hh.htm

"Hamsa, Hansa (Sanskrit) The mystic swan or goose; representing divine
wisdom beyond the reach of men. Exoterically, a fabulous bird which,
when given milk mixed with water, drank only the milk and left the
water, milk standing for spirit and water for matter."

Brief quote from
http://logos_endless_summer.tripod.com/esotericphilosopher/id39.html

"For all exoteric purposes, Hansa, as every Hindu knows, is a fabulous
bird, which, when given milk mixed with water for its food (in the
allegory) separated the two, drinking the milk and leaving the water;
thus showing inherent wisdom -- milk standing symbolically for spirit,
and water for matter "

The German airline name "Lufthansa" is derived from the same source.
Quote from http://www.mouthshut.com/readreview/39420-1.html

"Lufthansa in German means Flying Bird. Luft in German means in air, or
flying high, and Hansa means bird. Actually, Hansa is a Sanskrit word,
meaning Swan. It is not an ordinary bird. Swan is the carrier of Goddess
Saraswati, the Goddess of Learning. Max Muller was a great Sanskrit
Scholar. Even today, in many German Universities, the standard of
research in Sanskrit is very high. When the German Sanskrit Scholars
speak Sanskrit, they do so with correct pronunciation."

KUNDALINI INDUCED HIGHER STATES

The Kundalini induced higher states during my practical sessions have
been reported by me here (and in the K-List) a few months ago. A brief
summary is as follows. During some of my Kundalini induced states I do
not feel that I am "myself". I feel that I am a very advanced Yoga
Master, ie I feel that I am like Shiva. This has given rise to the
classical mantra "Shivoham, Shivoham" = "I am Shiva, I am Shiva" by
other people in the past who had reached a similar state/status. In the
same space & time that I occupy, the feeling is that there is an
infusion of the Shiva deity. This is reinforced by various classical
(static) Mudras and (dynamic) Kriyas that are traditional attributes and
characteristics of Shiva. Someone on the K-List quoted 'You become what
you worship'.

The Surya Mudra shown on the left hand on the first image at
http://www.lotussculpture.com/shiva1.htm is very frequent in my
sessions, as well as Gyana Mudra and many others. The dynamic Kriyas
are often similar to the joyful energetic Tandava (Lord Shiva's Cosmic
Dance), although I myself do not know how to dance. For an
authoritative presentation on Tandava see
http://are.berkeley.edu/~atanu/India/tandava.html For another view on
Shiva's dance/music see http://www.radio-v.com/main/beam/features/shiva/
