As someone on this list reminded me repeatedly..."Try not. Do. Or do not.
There is no try"
....Yoda

One Man Alone writes:

>Overtime, going to church every Sunday, I was constantly
>reminded of my obligation to my God that I must be the
>best I can be for the sake of His glory and my debt to
>Jesus Christ. Every time I'm in church, I hold back
>tears of pain, for how much I let Him down. I remember
>His love and that He just wants the best for me, so I
>knew I had to become a better person than I was

Yeah, I started my voyage in about the same place. I didn't have the added
guilt of regular church attendance though. Remember, churches are very
interested in keeping their coffers full. The easiest way (so they think) for them
to insure this is to manipulate their congregations with guilt. They will tell
you that you are "Born in Sin", that "Your Body is Sinful" and most, if not
all of your natural urges are sinful.

What a crock.

Then they add, "But, for just five dollars each week, you too can go to
heaven." Though they phrase it more appealingly.

Don't get me wrong. I am very much in favor or organized religion. Can you
imagine a world where there was no moral guidance of any kind? That would be
even worse. Plus, they can also act as a reminder that there is a spiritual
(not religious) path to be walked if you have the courage.

The problem you are now encountering is that you have been shown a greater
truth than most pastors are ready to deal with. They teach basic morality and
cannot really help much with true spiritual crises.

Hety is right. You have not let Jesus down and you don't owe Him anything.
To quote Bono Vox, "The God I believe in isn't short of cash, mister." ...or
anything else for that matter. You are thinking of Jesus as a personality and
assigning the personality traits typically associated with humans to
him...dissapointment, jealousy, anger...because this is what most churches teach.

If you see him as an enlightened soul who completely understands your
situation...maybe even better than you do...how could any of that be possible.

The personality that was Jesus knows that if you screw up this incarnation,
it's no big deal. You'll just come back again and again until you learn your
lessons. Although one soul reaching enlightenment..or even just reaching FOR
enlightenment, is a beautiful thing and it lifts us all just little higher.

As far as advice on learning to deal with K goes....that has been the topic
of much debate for many centuries....:^) But the general rule is surrender,
face your problems head-on with acceptance. Some may evaporate almost
immediately and some will have to be worked on for a little while, others...for a long
while.

Be the best you can for your own "Glory", not anyone else's. Better yet,
forget all about glory and be the best you can because you want to.

Find a spiritual path that resonates for you and does not include large doses
of guilt from it's proponents. Meditation is my first choice. Learn to be
still and Love yourself "warts and all" as Bill Shakespeare so aptly suggested.

And don't stop reaching,
Jason B
