That's funny!! But I know what you mean. I remember from earliest childhood
somehow seeing the difference between "who I am" and "the things I've done"
and consciously liking myself and my role in this life, despite some poor
decisions.

I see guilt as a detour from the main highway towards happiness. It's a
symptom of putting ones attention on oneself and image more than is
necessary. It's hard not to when you're a teen though and still trying to
figure things out. I think we all did that.

I've found that if I pro actively place my attention and efforts on all the
other people in my life towards the end of their health, happiness and
success, that it serves two purposes. I don't have time to over-analyze
personal things and revolve self centric thoughts such as "guilt" or my
bodies appearance or small health problems, etc. and thereby inadvertently
magnify them out of proportion. That, and the good karma one makes by
serving those around them creates a wave upon which you may "surf" through
the hard times. So overall, I've found it tactically smart to not put all
that much attention on my own little personal concerns.

I discovered this from reading stories about people who survived and
thrived through the Nazi prison camps, spending all their time nurturing
and helping those around them instead of looking out for number one. There
are people who gave all their own food rations away to others and spent
every waking minute thinking of others. They walked away at the end having
lost no weight and in excellent health. I read this and said to myself,
"damn!! theres something cool going on there!". Later I noticed people in
my own life who spent most of their time thinking about and talking about
their own health problems. They seemed to have *far* more problems than
others who were just too busy to do so.

Anyway, it works for me. It helps me live every day of my life as though it
may be my last.
