Hello,

I live very close to Espanola, NM and started K Yoga with a member of the
Siri Singh Sahib's (Yogi Bhajan) "cult." NO! It's not true! LOL! First
of all, my yoga teacher is one of the most wonderful persons I have ever
met. This woman is over 60 years of age, looks like she's in her 40's, I
presume from the benefits of the K Yoga, is dedicated to the Sikh
"religion," NOT a cult. She's an extremely spiritual woman who took the
time to understand my K craziness (the only person who ever took me
seriously) and has become a personal friend.

I don't believe YB is a fraud. I've attended a number of Sikh functions and
found everyone to be quite normal. YB is very old and in poor health (from
a kidney transplant). The Sikhs run possibly the most successful businesses
in the state of NM, and for that reason, I can understand why many people
would be jealous. The politicians hover over the man -- other than the Los
Alamos Lab, I believe Sikh businesses probably pay the State the most gross
receipts tax.

My personal complaints: Kundalini yoga is not for everyone, especially
those in the throes of actual Kundalini awakening. YB doesn't believe this.
He may not be K awakened. I could not handle many of the kriyas based upon
the extraordinary results. Even pranayama became irritating to me -- and
breath is the most important part of K yoga! Also, I have back problems and
can't sit for very long periods of time, 20 minutes max. If I wanted to
participate in Sikh functions I'd have to find a wall to lean against. This
seems to be a minor thing, tho'.

So that's it, really. If you're successful with your K yoga, by all means,
keep at it! ;-) Many people, including the pastor and members of my
church, people living side by side in the community with the Sikhs, have NO
clue and put them down all the time. Why? They are closed-minded and
anyone different than they are are obviously weird, frauds and charlatans.

And BTW, Gururattan on the Kundalini Yoga site, just wrote an incredibly inf
ormative piece on Mars and the "irritations" this month. I believe you can
find it at www.kundaliniyoga.com.

Sat Nam!

Hety

However, when searching the Internet recently I came across a number of
websites which said that Yogi Bhajan is a bit of a fraud. Namely, that he
essentially runs a cult, is power and money hungry, and was a womaniser.
Obviously this has slighlty tainted may practice and in fact put me off it
altogether. I would just like to know what you all think of this; is it to
be believed? Is none of it true? Or is some of it true, but are the sets,
mediations and other practices still good??
