What gives birth to desire?

Fear.

It's the ancestor of all obstacles.

But fear of what?

Of Death.

It's the root of all fears.

What does this reveal about the cycle?

It is a cycle of living and dying.

In the cycle of living and dying, we are dying as much as we are living.

Fear arises; we attempt to arrest the cycle.

Is it possible to break the cycle?

No, because of how it defines itself; It is, however, possible to see beyond
it.

:)
