Can anyone offer a detailed explanation of hand and leg position in
meditation for when hands are residing in ones lap or where legs are crossed
regarding the relevance of right-over-left or left-over-right placement.

For example, it has been said that left is feminine and right is masculine,
further, left is receiving and right is giving. Although I don't hold
strongly to these ideas preferring to see that each can be either.

Still I am curious about whether teachers of meditation should suggest one
way or the other both for hand placement and leg placement?

Yoga practise has taught me that things should be balanced so if I effort on
one side then I should do equally for the other side. I am unclear as to
whether this should follow for meditation practise?
