Dear Rick, List,

Jung in his lecture "Psychological Commentary on Kundalini Yoga" (1932)
connected the following chakras with the animals below. No jaguars or big cats,
though. I find this odd, because many members have had cougar and tiger dreams
also, as well as bear dreams. And where are the crows, wolves and spiders?
To say nothing of Snakes! :))

Jung's list:

First chakra: Elephant (or Horse for westerners)
Second chakra: "makara, the leviathan...the biggest and most terrible animal
down in the waters"
Third chakra:"in the manipura the ram is the symbolic animal, and the ram is
the sacred animal of Agni, the God of fire...[Jung]
Fouth chakra: "the gazelle...The gazelle or the antelope is not unlike the
ram, the difference being that it is not a domesticated animal like the ram, nor
is it a sacrificial animal...I would also say the gazelle was a close analogy
to the unicorn..."
Fifth chakra: the elephant again.

( for more of what Jung has to say on this,
see:http://www.kundalini-gateway.org/polls/po_snakes.html)

A Chart would be nice! :)) I located the following:
http://www.vedanet.com/chakra.htm

It too only mentions: Elephant, Crocodile, Ram, Deer, Elephant. But some of
the other signs might be helpful.

According to the wonderful "shamanism, working with animal spirits" site:
http://www.geocities.com/RainForest/4076/index1.html

Jaguar's wisdom includes:

Seeing the roads within chaos
Understanding the patterns of chaos
Moving without fear in the darkness
Facilitating soul work
Empowering oneself
Moving in unknown places
Shapeshifter
Psychic sight

while the black panthers wisdom includes:

 Astral travel
Guardian energy
Symbol of the feminine
Understanding of death
Reclaiming ones power
Ability to know the dark
Death and rebirth

Love, Hillary

Jung, in his *Commentary on Kundalini Yoga* says, "Now in talking about these
centres, we must never omit the actual symbols; they teach us a great deal. I
want to call your attention to the animal symbolism.
