The point on distractions is: if an activity shifts the focus away from
the journey to enlightenment then the activity is a distraction. That
activity can be pleasure or spiritual gifts. I am personally glad that
my K awakening has been quiet and I do not have gifts of seeing auras or
precognition or strong intuitions or other gifts because it leaves my
attention focused on enlightenment and not the awakening itself. Some
can handle both - as demonstrated by many on this list - I fear I would
find the activity too distracting.

Your point about Puritanism is fair, however, there seems to me to be a
difference between the pleasures of intimacy and K awakening on one hand
and the endless pursuit of pleasure on the other. If I find alcohol and
drugs pleasurable should I consume as much as possible to heighten my
pleasure? If I have sex with as many people as possible without regard
for relationship; not caring for the other then should I continue
because it brings me pleasure?

There is a huge difference between delighting in the experience of life,
of taking pleasure in love and intimacy versus desiring and consuming
pleasure to feed destructive addictions.

In Love
