Yeah!!

I woke up yesterday with 'I love myself today' by Bif Naked stuck in my
head. It is not really a song that I like. Then I was meditating on some of
my interpersonal issues with people, wondering what it was within me that
attracted these issues, seeing whole life patterns of power issues with
people. And one profound realization that struck me was that it partially
came because I do not love myself enough, that I do not extend the same
consideration and generosity towards myself that I extend towards others. I
realized that people would treat me better if I started to treat myself
better!! And that I would be able to be more considerate towards others
without taking on too much if I take good care of myself first. So the song
preceded a powerful healing thought.

I don't really use traditional mantras, though I do use affirmations. They
help me stay mindful and not obsess about my issues, and stay in the moment,
free from fear. And they seem to be working!! But a lot of times the music
in my head turns into cacaphonous noise. I discovered that surrendering to
the noise in my head and falling into it not only brings about more silence
within, but that it also helps open some of the blockages and pain in my
head and neck. It also tends to help with 'brain looping'...the same music,
thoughts and brain energy that repeats over and over and over again, but in
a counterproductive fashion. It helps me get out of my head and into the
body, and calm peace, and bliss.

The music that moves the kundalini for me is the Tea Party, flute music,
violin, Middle Eastern, some torchy stuff, and sometimes trance. It all
depends on my mood, and which chakras need more energy flowing through. If I
need to get my sexual energy flowing, I use Middle Eastern, Latin, stuff
like that. If its the heart chakra that needs energy, I use calm, peaceful,
faerie-like stuff, like flute and strings and piano. If my upper chakras
need energy, I use trance, techno, and New Age instrumental.

In terms of choosing mantras or music, I say use whatever works for you, and
evokes bliss. It's different for everybody.
