Dear Jack,

Well, it is pretty obvious when one has been burned one wants to warn people about the dangers of fire! That doesn't mean that the use of fire can't be beneficial!

I tend not to dwell on the risks of K, especially since the majority of people here are already K awakened. Fear just increases whatever negative risks there might be for an individual. I certainly agree that K energy is incredibly powerful and on rare occasions by it's very force can cause physical and mental problems. Usually simply surrendering to K can release the fears. Fear of losing self--dying or going mad--is one of the hardest blocks to release.

I remember all the warnings against LSD I heard in the 60's. It's much the same thing. Yes, there are risks. In my case my curiosity overcame my fears. (I certainly do not advocate taking LSD or forcing K awakening. ;) )

Hillary: Hmmm. In looking up "risks sports" on google I came up with 686,000 sites. with "risks kundalini" I came up with 1440.

Hillary:

Well, I agree to a degree. But what do you mean by "forced?" There are many, many triggers to K. Does that mean you will no longer meditate? Pray? Do Hatha Yoga or other physical disciplines from the East? Does that mean you will avoid falling in love?

An interesting quote from the Url that Rick just sent: http://www.hinduism.co.za/newpage2.htm

"Faith and love act as a most powerful lever to raise the coiled up Kundalini; also the disciplines of Raja-yoga and jnana-yoga (yoga of knowledge). The repetition of the Lord’s name or a holy mantra, and even music, help in this process. "
