I went to Cologne Digital Sanskrit Lexicon, and for the entry "aum" I
found its meaning defined as:

        "ind. the sacred syllable of the S3u1dras (see 3. %{au})."

This is completely WRONG. Aum/Om is the sacred word (not syllable) of
the Hindus (not just Shudras) and others. The Shudras are only a part
of the class/caste system. The Brahmins in particular would take great
exception to the above definition. If there are such basic errors then
I am sure that there are many more errors, both basic and critical.

However, the entry "om" is OK. Therefore I am puzzled regarding two
different definitions for "om" and "aum" which are just alternative
transliterations of the same Sanskrit word.

There is a Sanskrit verse to the effect that: in the beginning there was
"Om", "Om" was with God, and "Om" was God. There is a similar verse in
the Bible about "The Word".
