Good question and I'm pleased you reflected that back to me for discussion.
First of all God has been the lable/title given to the divine throughout my
life. Both at school and in religious institutions. So I spose it has stuck.

I had never heard of Goddess until I joined this list over a year ago and
still don't understand the significance really of labelling 'It, ?, Him, Her,
' that way. Hey whatever! If everyone used the lable "Splosh" on the list I
would be happy to accept that too. For me it makes no difference and merely
serves to communicate that we are expressing our concept of that ~~Energy~~
that is Divine.

I used to cringe a little when using any word to describe Divinity, as on
some level it seemed inappropriate and innacurate to bring the infinite into
a word. As a Jew I seem to remember reading that in the Torah God has a
number of names and in fact it is sinful to use any of these unless in
prayer. At any other time, the word Hashem is used (or else!!!). In fact at
school we would only be allowed to write G-d with the o missed out and woe
betide anyone who wrote god with a small G. All of this indoctrination has an
affect subconsciously on ones ideas as one moves into adulthood.

I now realise that people who believe in some divine energy will all have a
unique way of relating to this force. No two people will have exactly the
same relationship with and concept of God.

Mine changes constantly as I evolve although there is a constant....... a
feeling of love. This might sound a bit cheesy but I have always had a strong
loving connection to this ~~Energy~~ and felt It to be my closest companion,
my truest friend and my constant support. At times the connection has been
weaker than at other times depending where I'm at but I've always been aware
of It's presence. A bit like an arm that's been slept on and when you wake up
you can't feel it but you know it is there, very much a part of you and that
the feeling will return ususally with a tingle :-))

So for me it does not matter what I lable this ~~Energy~~ for It/He/She has
no preference either way. So for communication with others I revert to that
lable which I have been most exposed to and is most universally recognised
(in my experience).

The most beautiful part of it all is that the more I grow, the more open I
become, the more I surrender.... the less need I have to define this
~~Energy~~ and the more I see it in Everything and Everyone and in Everything
and Everyone is It/His/Her definition.

Thank God ;-)
