Subject: [K-list] hypothyroid and diabetes

A couple of days ago, I was having dinner with an old bear who is a
martial arts teacher. Over a meal of bison, quail and elk we were
talking shop.

I mentioned to him that my core body temperature hovers around 94
degrees all the time in spite of throwing off the energy of heat
constantly. I had done some research and found that this may mean I
am hypothyroid although all extant medical tests say I am not.
Sometimes all that is needed to make that diagnosis is subnormal
body temp. (refer to http://www.wilsonssyndrome.com/ for more
explanation.)

I also am hypoglycemic and insulin resistant. In researching I found
that by raising the core body temp by one degree increases the
efficacy of the action of insulin considerably. Since beginning
herbal supplementation over the past two weeks as recommended by Dr.
Wilson I have raised my core body temp to 94.5. (these are not at
rest core temps. I take my temp at work where I am running around a
long hospital floor taking care of a heavy patient load. Some of my
at rest core temps are in the 93 range.)

Mr. Bear brought up that he knows a group of chinese martial arts
teachers and all of them have type two Diabetes (adult onset). We
speculated that because one of the purposes of practicing martial
arts is to promote lower body temp( because it is thought to promote
longevity)that this might be the reason for the Diabetes and some of
his and my problems with dropping blood sugar. I also know that a
natural treatment for high blood sugar is a dose of cinnamon in the
morning. Cinnamon is a heating herb.

I was wondering if anyone could comment further.

Namaste,
Susan
