Om Mani Padme Hum: is the Buddhist Mantra of Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion. He is said to have gone to the lowest hell
realms
and managed to empty them out....and then looked back and found them
full again. Alas, the world of suffering.
Literally: Om/Aum (different ways of dealing with Sanskrit spellings) The Jewel (Mani) in the Lotus (Padme). Buddha taught "AN-atman"
the Non soul. The impossibility of a "permanent and unchanging soul" or the creation of same.
The Jewel refers to the Enlightened Nature in all living things.....which is often
hidden as if wrapped in dirty rags....but is essentially pure and enlightened from the Beginningless Beginning.
