Regarding YKU: it is only one of the upanisads where Kundalini is
mentioned. I read a translation by Sri Upanisad Brahmayogin, called
"Yoga Upanisad", and it contained a collection of all the upanisads
that focus on tantric practice; there were dozens of them, such as
advayatarakopanisad, amrtabindupanisad, darsanopanisad,
yogacudamaniupanisad, yogakundaliniupanisad etc. Most of those texts
contain very little practical information, and are very general,
because they were meant to be just the guidelines, while the real
knowledge and techniques were passed from guru to cela. In all of
them, Kundalini is portrayed either as a "hissing serpent", "a power
of millions of lightnings" or something similar; those concepts are
highly likely to cause misunderstanding of the actual phenomena, and
so I don't really recommend them; there is much better material
around, if one wants to find out what is Kundalini (such as for
instance Kundalini FAQ by Kurt Keutzer) and what to do with it (the
grounding exercise by Angelique and basic meditation by my unhumble
self:).
