Nothing but direct personal experience will help you there, I'm
afraid... however, you can look at it this way: either there is the
absolute good, or everything is relative. You can feel, within,
somewhere, some feeling of ease or tension, that tells you when
something is OK, and if something is wrong. Now, try to follow this
feeling, follow it to its source, isolate it. See what it is made of.
Follow the white rabbit. :)

If you seek inconsistencies, you will most certainly find them.
However, assume I'm right. Then take a holy scripture - not the
Qur'an or the Old Testament of the Bible - they're crap. Take the
gospels, or Bhagavad-gita. Then, you read them from the position that
they are true (otherwise you will close to the message and reject it
in advance). Feel how it resonates with you, feel the inner feeling
of harmony.

Who told you we can't? Maybe you cannot know now, but you can at
least have faith and believe. Faith opens you up to experience. One
of the first times in my life I showed real faith and devotion, I had
such a strong vision of God, that it had to stop before evaporating
me. But without faith, without confidence and devotion, you can only
remain bitter and cynical.
