This is a good point. It is, the crux of the matter. 
 
OK. I will begin by assuming that what you say is true. Then I have a 
question for you and it is, "How can we know what the goodness of God is?" 
If you tell me to look to the Bible or other sacred writings, I will point 
to the inconsistencies and examples of where God is anything but good. If 
you tell me that we, as mere mortals, cannot know of the goodness of God 
then what's the point? Its like debating whether or not we are the 
descendants of aliens. Maybe we are, maybe we're not, but since we cannot 
know, what's the point of even discussing it? If I cannot know the absolute 
good then it's useless to me and I then return to my original point of not 
having an absolute marker.
