Love is a very imprecise word, and people use it to describe pleasant
and generally positive feelings of different direction, focus and
magnitude. There are different kinds of love, "I love ice cream"
isn't the same kind of love as "God is love". "God is love" is an
imprecise way of saying that God's inner nature is that of bliss,
understanding and eternity. Therefore, when one encounters God, he
realizes that he is etternally understood, eternally accepted,
infinite, immortal and his consciousness is of infinite clarity. A
very, very partial aspect of this can be poured into words such as
"God alone understands me in fullness, and He loves me completely and
unconditionally".
This has absolutely nothing to do with the physical realities, and
one should not try to map the observation of the physical world onto
the nature of God, because the physical world in fact only in a very
small measure reflects God. On the higher levels of existence, the
observation maps onto God with much more precision - there, you are
surrounded with blissful insight of all, and God's nature is clearly
visible, and the statement "God is love" isn't contradicted with a
sight of starving children and ignorance. On the scale of vibration,
this world is closer to complete nothingness than it is to the
highest Reality. Therefore, most of the things we get to observe here
are of the nature of nothingness, chaos and death. This, however,
does not reflect God's nature - in fact, it is here to show us what
God is _not_. We are here to introduce that, which God _is_.

No, it is a glimpse of the reality of a higher order, so high that it
is almost impossible to confirm by observing this world, which is
closer to hell than it is to heaven.

It tells you that suffering is here for a while, but God is for
eternity. All those things that are low and evil, will pass, but God
will never pass.
It means that the evil is already defeated, in the long run, where it
matters.
