Having lived through a variation of this scenario myself, I
can tell you that I wasn't smiling blissfully at the time, but
I have come to appreciate the gifts that were given to me by
this experience: realization of my own inner strength &
purity, understanding & empathy for the millions of women who
experience this on a daily basis, and yes, compassion for the
bewildered perpetrators who are acting the only way they can
in the moment, given their understanding of the universe.
