rkshankar,

Regarding the "Kundalini" response, a few days after that discussion I
was casually looking in a bookstore in the Yoga and mind/body/spirit
type sections, without much success. I couldn't really find anything
suitable to read until suddenly I saw a book called simply "Kundalini"
(Agora II, by Robert Svoboda). I flicked through it and showed the book
to my wife. After a detailed evaluation she said "OK", which is unusual
since she doesn't like me to buy (even more) books. I bought it and it
was excellent. I bought part I and III later. Was this a coincidence?
I myself don't think so!

Also, the book "Kundalini Yoga" by Swami Sivananda is in a pdf called
simply "kundalini". Perhaps less of a coincidence.

Since I was with Swami Ji for only a few days (in December 2000 and
2001) there was probably not enough time for us to have a complete
discussion. Therefore, I was guided to the appropriate material such as
books, and also internet resources. I found a lovely book on Mudras
called Abhinayadarpanam, which otherwise might have been impossible to
locate. It answered many questions about Mudras, although the text is
mainly about classical dance/theatre, which uses Mudras for expression.
Yogananda's book Autobiography of a Yogi is also excellent.

Regarding books, I have read very widely and deeply since before the age
of 10. I have read Aurobindo, Krishnamurti, Vivekananda, etc - all
primarily intellectuals. I was perhaps over intellectual. My teachers
were not so keen on the intellectual faculty and they used to point out
that one can only progress spiritually to a certain level with the
intellect. At some point the intellect is of no use for further
development. Therefore, I tried to include all other aspects in my
progression. I have read about many different Yogas, paths, ways,
methods, systems, etc.

Swami Dev Murti Ji once said to me "Learn everything". His verbal
teachings are very brief, but invariably useful, efficient, powerful,
and extremely practical for daily life.
