It's astonishing how relevant some of these threads are to my personal
situation. As I mentioned before, I've been affected by Joe Campbell's
comments about the hero's journey, that it is a struggle to realize oneself
as a unique individual, a one of a kind expression of Spirit, rather than
being sucked into some system and becoming just another one of its clones.

This is very insightful. Yoganada's Self Realization Fellowship (SRF)
helped point me in the right direction when I was going thru a dark night of
the soul in my 20's. Although I still have good feelings toward SRF and
feel thankful for their direction, I no longer consider myself a full-on
devotee.
