This is a cute trick, but pretty easy to figure out. Notice that the first
two digit number, 10, gives the following answer: 10 - 1 = 9. The next
number results in: 11 - 2 = 9. The starting number and answer both increase
by one (the second digit) each time: 12 - 3 = 9, 13 - 4 = 9... Beginning
with 20, the answers are all 2 X 9 = 18. 20 - 2 = 18, 21 - 3 = 18, 22 - 4 =
18... In fact, the answer (call it a) is always the first digit (call it n)
times 9, or: a = n X 9.

10 thru 19 = 9
20 thru 29 = 18
30 thru 39 = 27
40 thru 49 = 36
50 thru 59 = 45
60 thru 69 = 54
70 thru 79 = 63
80 thru 89 = 72
90 thru 99 = 81

Notice that all these numbers correspond to the same symbol on the chart.

This is the problem with looking for miracles, magic, ESP, etc. -- they're
often just cheap tricks.
