 well, Jason... i kind of disagree here... your definition of love as an
act of self-sacrifice doesn't quite fit right for me...

 i experience love as a state of being where bliss spills out and naturally
 radiates to another person... so my own great joy may be felt in helping
and sharing with others...

 but even when choosing a path where following your heart makes another
 unhappy, love makes me empathetic with both the other and also with
 myself... i may still be very much full of love, but i can't always choose
 happiness for someone else... sometimes it just might not feel like what
my heart is telling me is the best action at that time...
