Most excellent questions. I'll make a stab at this.

Love is... both the willingness to; and the action of; placing the quality of another person's happiness and well being ahead than your own.
....................................................Jason B's "Dictionary of Happiness"

Obviously, this will require some explanation. "The willingness to; and the action of;"
are both requirements. It is conceivable that a person could be coerced into an action s/he was not willing to take. It is also conceivable that a person could be willing to take an action but be somehow prevented. These requirements must both be met before a third party can become aware of Love as something other than some vague emotional concept.

The willingness to:

"And though I have the gift of prophecy and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have faith so that I could remove mountains and have not love, I am nothing"
...............................The Apostle Paul, l. Corithians 13:2

The action of:

"By their works ye shall know them."
.....................Jesus of Nazareth

I reiterate, both requirements must be met before any other than the involved parties can be certain it is love.

".....placing the quality of another person's happiness and well being ahead of your own."

In the context of the above prerequisites, willingly taking action to insure the quality of this person's life exceed's your own: to make certain they are filled before you eat and drink...to be certain they are warm before covering yourself with a blanket...to be certain that person is clothed before you cover you own nakedness.

These are absolutes. There are also an infinite number of degrees of this expression.

On the subject: Is love the absolute or one end of a polarity? The answer is: In truth there is nothing but Love."

However, we have imagined that there is something else other than love...a place where love is not...and sometimes we act on this. We have imagined that there is Fear, and having imagined it so thoroughly, we became capable of acting on it. Fear is where we think Love is not. So this is the duality which we have been so avidly discussing.

In the heat of battle, cannot two mortal enemies engaged in the basest expression of their anger toward one another, be overcome by Love? Anger is Fear set in motion. They fight only because they Fear what the other will do if left unchecked. If they both recognized their Fear for what is was, and seeing it for illusion laid down their weapons, clasp hands, and with all the energy they had been wasting on fighting one another, agree to build a better world together; could not it be said that they have now seen Love where they thought is was not?

Duality says that these are the polarities of the spectrum: Love....Fear.

But if Love is all there is and we have only imagined that fear exists, then the polarites become: Truth...Illusion.

There is only Love and all else is illusion. One can never see this unless one is willing, for just a moment, to put aside fear.

So........

Love in Each Moment,
Jason B
