Interesting thread. I've noticed for the past several years that my dreams
have gone from being some weird, other-worldy, foreign, experience to an
extension or continuation of my every-day consciousness. Not that I'm am
advanced enough to reamin constantly aware during sleep, but there is still
this continuity and wholeness of waking and sleeping consciousness.

Yesterday and the day before, while in the twilight state between sleep and
waking, I had an unusual experience. I felt that sense of
super-consciousness one gets in deep medition, no thought, just
crystal-clear awareness. I was watching a dream, and each part of the dream
contained an important message about my life, which was instantly and
wordlessly transmitted to me. Because the messages had this feeling of
importance, I started trying to remember them. This process of trying to
insure that I remembered them woke me up. Ack!

The first time (two mornings ago) this happened, it startled me a bit, so I
lost my concentration and woke-up with a start. The second time it happened
I was calm, but as I said, the process of trying to insure I remembered the
messages broke the spell, as it were.

It seems odd that I felt such clarity when waking up. Like most people, I'm
usually a little spacey first thing in the morning. I'm left with the
impression that this state of crystal-clear awareness, beyond thought, is
always there in the background. I've understood that this is the case, but
only theoretically, not thru an actual experience like this. It wasn't the
same as the few lucid dreams I've had. They were the normal ego waking up
inside a dream.

Anyway, it seemed relevant to this thread. Comments are welcomed.
