Subject: [k-list] Maintaining balance in any environment

Change is constant, and can only be experienced
subjectively. It has become increasingly clear to me,
that I cannot change another person... but instead,
only allow myself to be a space in which change may
occur.

This has seemed like a simple concept, but I find it
interesting in how this operates wonderfully within
different contexts.

I live in the city, and am particularly fascinated
with energetic interaction and exchange that occurs
through physically close, yet anynomous encounters.

For instance, so many different people lumped together
on the subway, avoiding eye contact at all costs and
then sneaking looks from the corner of their eyes when
they think no one is looking. It certainly can be
quite lonely, cold, and depressing.

But occasionally you experience something more
expressive: A smile, a hello -- Any number of things.
But for the most part people will pretend not to
notice you, and you will pretend not to notice them,
even if both of you want to jump each other's bones
right there ;)

Of course, with so may different people supressing
their desires, these environments can be pretty
overwhelming and exhausting. But it's understandable,
as it's the ego's way of trying to survive. It becomes
very easy to retract energy; to see Oneself as
limited, and to bring that into a much smaller,
limited space.

Point being, just because I may feel threatened or
overpowered by an environment, that's all the more
reason to step into a larger space. For though I may
be cramped up against several people, the space I am
entitled to remains the same. It's divine justice. The
congested environment becomes an illusion and only
tests me -- forces me -- to allow myself to be seen
shining rather than hiding amongst the crowd.

And when I operate this way, remembering/knowing
Goddess is here, her blessings come through.

She feeds off of us and ravenously goes to work --
doing what exactly, who knows or even cares? But the
air lightens; people begin to look up, and even smile.
The space opens, and Eden shows her face... if only
for a moment. Most people can't resist noticing, but
when they look around, they can't seem to find
anything.

The look at me and raise an eyebrow.

This is the power of surrender and shakti. God Bless
rush hour.
