Acara: I concur with your ideas and like you, Ken,
have experimented with different sounds. The English
vowel sounds, which are roots for the "universal
sound" in this language are interesting to toss around
as mantras. For instance, E ... I ... O... EEEEEE
(held) produces a vibration in the throat chakra very
beneficial to many at this time. This combination
begins in the throat and resonates in the lobes of the
brain at the back of the head, then with the O moves
upward at the back of the head and spreads upward
toward the third eye area.

Many Native American chants are beautiful centering
mantras, also-- especially for the lower chakra
vibrations.

It is as if each language has what I think of as
"cradle sounds," a term I coined to express this idea.

Also, traditional verses are engaging mantras when
vowel sounds are internally "expressed" with
acknowledgment of meaning. An example of this might
be "Holy, Holy Holy, Is the Lord God of Hosts: the
Earth is Filled with Your Glory" Understanding the
nuances of the words of the language heightens the
experience and helps create "right mindedness."

Sound and color are tools to access chakras and are
vibrations or frequencies. Some, yours truly included,
are more visual, while others respond better to
"sound" frequencies of a mantra.

As you said of Yogandana's advice, what ever centering
method is used, the vibrational level and awareness
needs to move from the external mechanics of the tool.
These "tools" can open and balance the chakras. When
the energy vibration is whirling with the frequency of
each chakra in balance, the Ra energy moves with
painless grace through all the chakras to flood the
crown and third eye, then makes the leap beyond these
mechanisms into the inexpressible field beyond the
tools of sound and color. Sometimes I think we forget
to set the tools aside and let the process unfold,
unfettered.
Blessings, Acara
