Greetings,

A wonderful thread! Pardon my belated response.

In Kriya Yoga, we are taught that it is invasive to heal or even send energy/prayers with an attachment to a particular outcome to someone who does not ask.

If you pray for someone to be healed of cancer without their permission you are ignoring the fact that the person's own karma gave them that cancer. This sort of healing is ego-based, assuming that we know more about what is in someone's best interest than the Divine nature of the Universe does. If they were cured of cancer prematurely, they might not learn the lesson from it that they were intended to learn.

So you wind up getting etheric "feedback" from their karma. The end result of which is that it becomes more difficult for you to learn your own karmic lessons. Overcoming our karma is the reason most (please note that I said "most") of us incarnated here. (You ascended masters that are here for other other reasons, please just ignore this post) I certainly have enough things in my way on the spiritual path without adding to them.

If you send healing unasked, this is not respecting that persons path. This is where projections come into play. Take care that you do not make their situation (and your own) worse by the energy you send.

If a person ASKS for healing, that is different matter. In the asking, they are demonstrating humility--their willingness to transcend ego. This opens the door for healing. It is a surrender to, and recognition of, the Divine. In effect, this person is asking you, "Help me recognize my own Divinity".

"Light 'em up!"

There is one way to give healing unasked. Send your energy to the universe in general with the thought that the person in question receive the thing they need most--to be healed to their greatest need. But you must be completely unattached to the outcome of this. The Divine might cure their disease The Divine might answer your prayer by letting the person die. Or it might answer your prayer by letting them learn the intended karmic lesson. Maybe someone would give them a puppy. Or nothing at all might happen. In any case, your prayer was not directed at them. If it was done without attachment, it came from a place of unconditional Love. Unconditional Love transcends karma.

I can't be 100% certain, but I do not think any of this applies someone drowning. You can be pretty sure that a drowning person was screaming for help, whether you can understand them or not. Unless perhaps they were attempting suicide...eeesh, what would be the karma of rescuing them then? I'll save that one for some future thread :^) Feel free to Poke at me about this too, Percyval!

Love In Each Moment,
Jason B
