Hi Charles,

You misquoted me. I didn't say "you" exist as an adherent...

I wrote "I exist as an adherent of the Golden Rule... "

Other than that tiny little error you pretty much got it
right.

I don't think we have much of a choice about doing what we
want done to ourselves_ to others. The trick is, as far as
I'm concerned, is to attempt to understand what the other is
trying to communicate to me about their needs by their words
and actions.

This kind of response to others can get tedious for me,
because I have a tendency to see and hear them as if they
were saying and doing what I might 'think' I was doing and
saying... if I was them... for the reasons I might have if I
did the same thing... which I didn't.

The catchy part, for me, comes when, to understand their
intimations (by comparing what I 'think' they're trying to
do and say with what I 'think' I've done and said sometime
in the past.), I have to set my own reasons for what I do
and say aside, in lieu of what the other may possibly mean.
The me-and-ing of things can get out-of-hand, and into the
fire of contention like malamutes over raw fish and chips
off the ol' block.

Yeah, yeah... I do understand and accept that at some level
we are all One, and I foolishly fancy I know what level that
oneness exists at... IF there are such things as levels.

I do enjoy a sense of humor, and I do attempt to look at
things in a comical light at times. Especially when I read something that would display my sometime-hidden-pomposity
for all the world to readily see what kind of fool I am...
or could be with the proper training. Occasions do exist
where, if I had written what others have purportedly written,
for the reasons I would have for writing it, I would fall
down in stitches and save nine. No blame.

Admittedly, however, if I started tossing dead or dying babies
into the mix because someone didn't kowtow to the attitude I
thought they should have about something I wrote, and do it
for my reasons, it might not be so funny. Even to a
relatively off-the-wall old man like me.
