Laura, I'm a new list member, so you don't know me. But many, many
people in the process of "awakening" have what seem to be manic
experiences. There are those that say all bipolar symptomology are
symptoms of awakening. There is an organization in Oregon that does
"emergence" (as opposed to emergency) counseling, for folks all over the
world, in this regards. Don't have the address, but doing a search on
emergence and oregon would likely find it. Please be careful in
contacting traditional doctors and mental health professionals. I've
had friendships with a few folks with similar problems, and generally
such a move would be considered incredibly invasive. If he wants your
help he will ask for it. If he doesn't, than you're not really close
enough to have the right to act on his behalf. Even asking for advice,
using his name, could get him committed. I know friends to whom that
has happened. I don't think its even your place to ask his family about
his background. He hadn't shared this info with you himself. If he
wants to he will. If he doesn't, then its not yours to know. Pray for
him. Pray for yourself. Embrace your fear and ask God to help you open
it to love. Let the kundalini arise within it, not to erase it but to
vibrate it and open it, expand it not just in the presence of love but
until it has become love. I, as you can see, have a very different
perception on kundalini than those who see it as returning one to a
state of blissfull undifferentiated oneness. Kundalini for me is a path
of opening myself and manifestation to the return of God. The God I
know IS returning to earth, daily, walking among us, returning to the
manifestation he gapped from in early days of creation, healing and
evolving his own splits with his feminine principal, the magnetic will.
I don't believe these things as opposed to what others speak of, I
believe that is another path, true for some, the return to blissfull
undifferentiation. Interestingly enough, some folks I know who have had
manic type experiences are folks who are on a path similar to mine - no,
I haven't gone that route, but know several who have, and even some who
spent time in psychiatric facilities due to the judgements they or
others close to them held about their experiences. Acceptance is the
key. Not "surrender", but simply wanting to accept all that you feel
around this experience, encouraging him to do likewise, including
looking for the fear lurking under the bliss/mania... for it is always
there, much like muted rage is usually if not always there with the
other pole - depression. It also often happens, by the way, that such
experiences can occur to those whose own kundalini gets triggered by
kundalini movement in someone close to them. And it can happen without
their awareness or understanding of what is going on. Just some
thoughts for you to consider. Most of all, please please think twice
before you contact traditional medical or mental health personnel. Let
him find his way. Feel your fear, breathe with it, open with it, let
the love embrace him as well in his process, let him know/feel/choose
for himself what he needs. If he asks for your help, that is another
matter. Just don't take it out of his hands. Please. Sara Joy
