There seem to be two main ways to "self realization" --one is Inquiry and the
other Surrender.

Ramana Maharshi in *Talks* writes: "To enquire 'Who am I?' is the only
remedy for all the ills of the world. It is also perfect bliss." and
"surrender is synonymous with Bliss itself." and "The jnana method is said
to be vichara (enquiry)." p. 611

It has sometimes been said that Albert Einstein was K awake. There are many
interesting quotes that would suggest this. You can find many of these in
the K archives and other places.

This is from El Collie's site: www.elcollie.com/st/light.html

"Literally and symbolically, light is the essence of spiritual awakening.
"Among the trillion mysteries of the cosmos," wrote Yogananda, "the most
phenomenal is light." In his Autobiography of a Yoga, he noted that
Einstein's Theory of Relativity centered around the velocity of light.
Yogananda marvelled that in a universe in flux, Einstein mathematically
proved "that the velocity of light is, so far as man's finite mind is
concerned, the only constant... With a few strokes of his pen, Einstein
banished from the universe every fixed reality except that of light."

Sounds like K to me! At this point you might try doing some stretching
exercises--Hatha Yoga, Tai Chi, etc. to try to release the energy in the
spine a bit. A number of people over the years have complained about a less
sharp intellect. As Jason suggested, it may be a message to become less
mentally oriented. A combination of intellect and creativity can be a
powerful combination!
