Excuse me for being a few days behind on the threads. Fatherhood is very
time consuming.

I was in pschotherapy for about three years. I usually went to one
therapist, but I dabbled with a few others, just for perspective. I
discovered I was really lucky to have found a very open minded psychologist
who was constantly willing to integrate new ideas into her work. The others
I worked with seemed to believe they had found the "pat method" and there
was no deviation from their path

In my experience, some therapists feel they have a vested interest in keeping
you believing that you "are not well". It keeps you coming to their door and
writing them checks. This is not to say all of them by any means. It is the
same philosophy that pharmacutical companies are following--developing
treatments rather than cures.

If finance allows, you might try checking out a few other therapists. See if
you can find one that resonates more with your own perosonal path. There
must be balance between sound scientific method and personal
attention/respect.
