Subject: [K-list] on Free will and DestinyThe idea is that every action to the smallest thing that you do is
done for your own self interest conciously or not, and that free will
is a myth. The things that you do in your self interest are due to a
chain of events that led to that action...snip...My guess is that if there is no such thing as randomness, that free will
is a perceived myth.

Louis and All,

My perception and understanding of free will comes my intuitive knowings and what I've understood about free will from "A Course in Miracles." For quite some time I've been making an attempt to discern between my ego and God's will in my thoughts and actions. While at first, observing all thoughts and actions is an exhausting exercise, Carlos Casteneda says that 'one must be vigilant' in this course of action. I believe it pays off in the long run, if that's what one wishes to do ;-) but it also opens the door to that mind-boggling question, "Who is thinking now, Fred?" (W. Thomas Wolfe)

A Course in Miracles explains free will as something that's given to us by our Creator. We use our free will to create the ego, the Great Separator and Protector from the knowledge of who we really are. The ego's death is the Remembrance, for once we remember who we really are, of course, there is no longer the need for ego, our small human creation.

Joe just posted that the ego can't be killed. I believe that's probably a term used figuratively rather than literally. Killed, anihilated, put aside, transcended...I think ;-) that the ego is created by thought, so therefore, without thinking "in the direction of" the ego, it becomes non-existent. Which seems to be the problem and the point of going through the K process, well, at least part of it then.

And I think, regarding destiny, that it gets back to the "time" subject. If everything that has happened and will happen, is happening in this moment, then perhaps this Moment includes all possibilities at once -- and even no possibilities at all. Your destiny has already been recorded! ;-)

Sat Nam!
