Greeting All,

Example of free will and destiny: You were free to check your e-mail today
and you could have deleted this message without reading it. But if you read
it, then you must have been destined to do so.

(IMHO) Free will and destiny are both illusion. The only thing that matters
is what is actually happening.

(IMHO) The concept of destiny is an evasion device constructed by the ego to
avoid responsablity. If you were "destined" do anything, then obviously you
can't be responsible for it.

(IMHO) Free will is a concept developed by the ego as a self-reward. We
grant ourselves the illusion of freedom so we can take credit for things done
well or correctly.

The Free Will vs. Destiny arguement has been around for a few millenia now.
You can read about it the works of Homer and Sophacles and they were merely
writing down stories that had been strictly in an oral tradition for
countless generations.

Isaac Asimov presents an interesting view of Free Will vs. Destiny is his
book "The Foundation Trilogy". He argues that there is Destiny and that it
is achieved through Free Will. Any Psycho-Historians about?

"Rest in Reason. Move in Passion."
