On 2002/09/15 01:07, Rich posted thus to the K-list: I am curious as to what type of business you are in and whether you have
been directly effected from the growth of the internet. I feel prejudice
in your reply.

The crux of my e-mail is that I am looking for a fair solution for both
artist, producer, marketer and consumer.

Of course their are overhead costs involved, but why can I buy an import
CD cheaper in Australia, Japan and other places than buying the original
CD in the UK. I don't like being extortionated. Why can I buy an album
with 10-14 tracks on for less than 4 singles which have to be marketed,
packaged and sold individually.

Exactly what my e-mail said! Thanks for telling this back to me.

So it's a choice do I cheat the artist or let the record company cheat
me?

So far I support my favourite artists with my money. Even if I download
the tracks, as a principle I will still buy their album.

Actuallly my suggestion was to find a fairer solution which is not out
of ego and greed.

We both know that there are basic things that cannot be provided by the
internet (not directly). I'm aware of online supermarkets but they've
never really taken off. Music to me is a high-dynamic commodity on the
level of aethetics and it's unique in that it cannot be touched... Like
electricity.

Thanks for your opinion :) I've been looking for a while...Do I have to pay when I see beauty outside my window... That's also a
creation... Just who expressed the creation that came into my experience
of life... Some charge, some don't... Some like to sit in the middle and
others manipulate and take advantage of people... Some rare folks are
fair and genuine through and through... I remember once reading a quote, "there is no such thing as an honest
business-man" (I realise this is sexist, but that was the quote)... The
person who quoted it went on to say that in running an honest business,
he had had more demand than he knew what to do with.

Just some thoughts,

Rich
